How To Care For Your Body During Pregnancy
Being pregnant means following a healthy lifestyle is more important than ever. It’s crucial to understand what steps you can take to keep you and your baby in good health.
Prenatal care is one of the vital factors that ensure a smooth pregnancy. The first checkup should occur during the first 6 to 8 weeks of your pregnancy, when your menstrual period is approximately 2 to 4 weeks late. For women who are relatively healthy and have no complicating risk factors, you will probably see your health care provider every 4 weeks until the 28th week of pregnancy, and then every 2 weeks until 36 weeks of pregnancy. After that you will have an appointment every week until you give birth through inducing labor or otherwise.
Nutrition
Proper nutrition is one of the best ways to enjoy a happy pregnancy. Because you’re eating for two, it’s doubly important to consume healthy foods and stay away from things that may harm your baby as it develops. When you’re pregnant, dieting and cutting calories is not a good thing – you will need to take in about 300 more calories a day to ensure you and your baby are properly nourished, especially as your pregnancy progresses. Caloric intake, however, can vary from woman to woman. For thin women, and women carrying twins, you may be required to consume more than 300 extra calories. Or, if you are currently verweight you might need less. No matter what, you’ll need to contact your healthcare provider to determine what’s best for you.
Of course, pure calorie consumption is not the only goal – you need to make sure that what you eat is nutritionally sound. Nutritious foods contain the essential vitamins and minerals that contribute to a baby’s growth and development.
Although a healthy diet is fundamental to caring for your body during pregnancy, it’s actually quite simple to integrate healthy living into your daily life. Maintain a well-balanced diet by following basic dietary guidelines. Lean meats, fruit, vegetables, whole grain breads and low-fat dairy products are all essential to maintaining good health.
Real, healthy food will provide your body with much-needed nutrients. At the same time, during pregnancy certain essential nutrients are required in higher-than-normal amounts. For example, calcium, iron, and folic acid are especially essential in the diet of a pregnant woman. Although your doctor may prescribe vitamin supplements, your diet still needs to contain nutritious food to provide your body with most of its nourishment.
On a normal basis, women need 1,000 mg of calcium per day, but during pregnancy, calcium consumption should rise in order to keep up with calcium loss in your bones. You can get calcium from a wide range of food products, including low-fat dairy products such as milk, cheese, and yogurt; orange juice, soy milk, and cereals that are fortified with calcium; dark green veggies such as spinach, kale, and broccoli; as well as tofu, dried beans, and almonds.
A pregnant woman requires 27 to 30 mg of iron per day because iron is used by the body to make hemoglobin, which is what helps red blood cells carry oxygen throughout the body. A lack of iron leads to a dearth of red blood cells, meaning the body’s tissues and organs don’t receive enough oxygen. With a baby on board, women need to pay extra attention to their iron intake.
Iron is found in both plant and animal matter, but the body absorbs it more easily from meat sources. The following are some foods that contain a good amount of iron: red meat, dark poultry, salmon, eggs, tofu, enriched grains, dried beans and peas, dried fruit, leafy green vegetables, blackstrap molasses, and iron-fortified breakfast cereals.
Many people have already heard about how important folate (folic acid) is for a pregnant woman. For pregnant woman, or those planning on becoming pregnant, it is recommended that you take 0.4 milligrams of folic acid every day. Many women choose to supplement their diet with vitamins in addition to any folic acid intake they receive from food.
It has been found that consuming folic acid 1 month before and during the first 3 months of pregnancy reduces the risk of neural tube defects by 70%, which is why it’s considered so critical. The neural tube is formed during the first 28 days of pregnancy, which is usually before a woman even realizes she’s pregnant, and it eventually develops into the baby’s brain and spinal cord. Lack of sufficient nutrition, particularly a lack of folic acid, may result in a neural tube defect such as spina bifida.
To remain healthy while pregnant, it’s also key to drink plenty of fluids. During pregnancy your blood volume increases, so drinking plenty of water is the best way to avoid dehydration and constipation.
Exercise is a great way to feel great throughout an entire pregnancy. There’s no reason to stop physical activity once you become pregnant; in fact, dietary guidelines suggest that you take 30 minutes or more each day to work out at a moderate pace.
During pregnancy, regular exercise prevents excessive weight gain, reduces problems such as back pain, swelling, and constipation, improves sleep, increases energy, promotes a positive attitude, prepares your body for labor and lessens recovery time after labor.
Proper sleep is another factor in maintaining health and comfort during pregnancy. Pregnancy can take its toll, and after a long day you will feel more tired than usual. As the baby grows bigger, it will be more difficult to sleep, but try to sleep as best you can – it will do wonders for how you feel!
Once you are ready to give birth and are considering inducing labor it is wise to consider all the advantages and disadvantages. Indeed, several authorities recommend you give informed consent before labor is induced. Of course, the baby is an important concern when considering induction of labor, especially the baby’s ability to breathe once delivered.
Following a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, exercising, and drinking plenty of fluids are all important to your overall well-being during pregnancy. If you strive to eat nutritious food and maintain a positive attitude during the course of your pregnancy, the good moments will definitely outshine the difficult ones.

whats the first sign of dog pregnancy?
Other than going to the vet….what is a good sign that your female dog is with pups? I think my male got to her a couple of weeks ago- there has to be something to look for right? I know the signs would be obvious later on but how would I know here soon? If anyone has any signs that I could watch for that would be great–yes i knew she was in heat and kept them apart for 21 days lol but a couple of days while i was at work he got out and to her……I should have known i know-but I did all I could to prevent it–so please no irresponsible cracks-I am going to take her to the vet in about 10 days i just wanted to know if there were some telltale signs or anything-everyone will have the proper vet care trust that! Thanks to anyone that can give me something to look for–!!
my dog started eating a lot more and her nipples enlarged and she was more lethargic and sometimes vomited, but something else to look for is if you see thick clear liquid with slight traces of blood in it, it means she is aborting, i saw this on 3-4 occations, the vet said it is sometimes due to the dog jumping or being overly active at the start of pregnancy, she ended up with 3 pups. later you will notice the belly beginning to swell, and dont feel irresponsible, i know what its like, male dogs will do anything to get to females on heat and jump over walls you thought would be impossible to jump and in a matter of minutes too.

losing weight, i am stuck please help!?
i know it is common to “plateau” when you are trying to lose weight. I have been eating healthy and exercising regularly and i have been stuck at this weight for 2 weeks even when i upped my workout. What did you do to get passed your plateau?
p.s. its post pregnancy weight. uhgg.
id like to lose 10 more pounds and i will be completely satisfied with my weight. i am trying to look stunning in this dress ill be wearing to the marine corps ball and have a little over two weeks to break this weight that won’t budge! suggestions????
Hi,
Weight loss plateau is a demon in disguise that may torture the dieter into diving into the sea of diet failure.
Your thyroid gland produced a hormone called Thyroxine that raises the metabolic rate of almost all the cells in your body. The increase in metabolism helps you to feel more energetic, burn more calories, and therefore allows you to lose weight faster. The activity of Thyroxine is controlled entirely by the type of food and the time you eat. Therefore, if you eat the correct foods at the correct times of day, you will subsequently “super-charge” your metabolism and lose weight! By manipulating this concept, your body has virtually no choice but to dissolve those immovable pockets of fat that you’ve been trying to rid yourself of for years.
When I was a teen, I was slim, I could wear whatever I want, my body looked good, even my face was slim. I’m 31 now, and I get disgusted and hate it everytime I look in the mirror. I was fat, my face looked like a watermelon. God knows how sad I was since all the good and nice clothes out there didn’t carry my size. Each and every time, I came home from shopping depressed, upset and I ended up hating myself even more. I’d tried low carb, low fat, extremely low calorie diets mixed with running but it never seemed to work. Whenever I would go back to eating a normal amount , I gained back the weight I had lost, and then a few pounds more. It was so discouraging!
I was searching through the Internet looking for fat loss programs when I came across a web site. After reading about the program, I felt some hope that I could get back into shape. I will admit that I am skeptical about weight loss programs but this program offered a money back guarantee, which gave me the chance to try this without fear of wasting my money. I tried it and I am so thrilled that I did. I have lost 58 pounds so far since 8 weeks ago, and feel great about continuing to lose the fat and reach my goals. I’m never hungry with this program. It seems that I eat more than ever before.
My advice is, you don’t need to spend a fortune to reach your goal, just like i do. If you really want to change then surf the link at the source below or else you will get ripped off from online weight loss scam and stay fat forever.

is there a possibility of pregnancy and has anyone experience these things?
ok i had a period on the 27th of oct, my ovulation calender said i was fertile from the 6 to the 12. it said the 7th i was very fertile, i had sex on the 7th…..well ive been having symptoms of pregnancy throwing up, being nauseous, back pain, swollen boobs, fatigue, darkened aureoles, headaches in which i don’t ever have, ive been eating my butt off. But here’s the thing i always get my period first thing in the morning this time it came late that night and it was lighter and shorter than it usually is. speaking to some family members including my mom they told me that my period is suppose to come the first month and then after that is when ill know if im pregnant. all test ive takin have come back negative…i should be 5 weeks and a day also a black line has appeared on my stomach that i know for sure wasn’t there before. can anybody help me or give me answers??
I had what I thought was a period for a full week, and then it came back again for a couple more days before I realized I was pregnant. It was fairly light the whole time, but like I said, it lasted for a full week! I didn’t think there was any way I was pregnant. My ex-husband and I had tried for 2 years and never got pregnant, and my husband now and his ex had to use fertility drugs to have their son. So I thought we would have a hard time getting pregnant. However, about a week and a half later, I became nauseous, and stayed that way for several days, so I decided to take a pregnancy test. It was positive. At that point, we’d been married a little over 2 months. LOL I would wait another week and test again. If you still haven’t gotten a normal period, and still have the symptoms, have the doctor do a blood test. Good luck!

Can I Develop Healthy Eating Habits During Pregnancy?
Learning you’re expecting a baby is fantastic news for you, your family and friends. Everybody has some opinion regarding what you should do and how you should do them while you experience the adventure of your pregnancy. Getting advice is great but knowing precisely what is occurring in your body is much better. The understanding you will gain together with any action you take will help you take control as well as be certain that you’re supplying your baby with exactly everything it needs in order to develop into a healthy newborn baby. Developing nutritionally healthy eating habits while pregnant gives your unborn child the perfect opportunity to come into their little world as healthy as possible.
Whenever considering what you eat now and what you should be eating, it is advisable to have in the back of your mind the concept that anything you digest will be either good for your pregnancy or bad. And though old habits die hard with every bite of food you’re taking and everything you drink, for the following several months, will have a huge impact on the overall health of your newborn baby. When contemplatingto healthy eating during pregnancy, it is not just about eating things that aren’t good for your body, it is also about not eating the many things that your body needs at this time. Eating healthy foods during pregnancy makes the process go much smoother, diminishes a lot of your food cravings and certainly provides your baby’s body and yours with the nutrients, nutritional vitamins, amino acid proteins and minerals necessary for each of you.
When you’re expecting it’s better to consume 5 to 6 little meals each day instead of three normal size meals that you are accustomed to, because your body needs consistent replenishment of the many nourishing substances, minerals and vitamins that are being used while your child develops. It is also much easier to digest smaller meals throughout the day than 3 average size larger meals, enabling you the ability to save up the extra energy required when eating a large amount of food. If it appears like it is difficult to have to plan on 5 to 6 different meals to eat each day you certainly can make extra food for dinner to have a couple of times the next day, including at breakfast time. This might appear to be much more food than you think you need, however the reverse holds true. In developing healthy recipes while pregnant, it is best to remember that an average size woman while she’s within the primary trimester, standing 5’4″ in height and weighing between 125 lbs. and 155 pounds requires about 2000 to 2400 cal per day, if she is active and exercise no more than 30 minutes every 24 hours. Needless to say, as you shift along through the months of your pregnancy into the next trimesters your whole body will require more because your baby will be getting larger.
When contemplating wholesome diet habits during pregnancy and planning your menu, always consider building this diet using the approved food pyramid during your pregnancy. Making sure an average day of eating decisions includes eating some thing from every food group.
Keep in mind that the development of healthy and balanced eating habits during your pregnancy beginning right this moment, will ensure you are helping your baby with its development, where to continue eating an unhealthy diet certainly can not.

How Do I Flatten My Post Pregnancy Belly? – Getting Your Pre-Baby Body Back
Lots of moms ask the question, “how do I flatten my post pregnancy belly?” Now that you’ve given birth, you are concerned about the way you look. What you need to do first is to take a deep breath and realize that it took awhile to get the weight on and it will take some time to get it off. Rome wasn’t built in a day, but by sticking with a good routine, you will see the results.
So, “how do I flatten my post pregnancy belly?” There are some ways to speed up the process and enable you to see quicker results. Many moms quit their workouts too early or think that they don’t have the time to exercise. By doing the right exercises and doing it efficiently, you can lose weight after pregnancy and keep it off in less time.
A great way to do this is by sticking with a good nutrition program. Learning to eat right is key to losing the pounds. Many moms make the mistake of eating quick meals, but using the wrong ingredients. Use healthy fresh ingredients and stay away from processed, fatty foods. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies along with lean meats are the perfect combination for losing that post pregnancy belly.
Although it might be hard at first to resist the temptation of fast foods, because you are taking care of a baby, don’t let that get in your way of your goal to look and feel your best. Try to find the time when baby is napping or happily playing to prepare meals in advance. Cut up the veggies and prepare meats in advance and you will soon be in a routine that will save you much needed time.
Exercise is also the answer to your question, “how do I flatten my post pregnancy belly?” Another great way to losing the post pregnancy weight is to find an exercise routine that works the entire body. Full body workouts are much more efficient at burning fat and calories and will also give your metabolism a kick. A program that includes squats, v-ups, lunges and dumbbell presses, to name a few, will increase your metabolism and burn calories quicker. By working more areas of your body at once, you save time and will spend less of it on exercise.
