maternity clothing question for you Girls!?
I'm only 5 weeks, 2 days …. pregnant due December 27. My birthday is 08 May and my parents and stepparents, talked about me getting gift cards maternity clothing stores here in town. I support the idea. My question to you ladies is this: when I was pregnant with you, when you start having to wear maternity clothes? I'm obviously not showing yet and probably not until I guess in June or July. I do not want to buy something now, because I have the feeling that I bad luck thing. Positive home pregnancy but negative urine test at doctors?
I have taken 4 HPTs and one 4 different days with 2 different brands and types, all have come back positive. I went to the doctors and they admistered a urine test and told me later in the day that it came back negative?! This was the same afternoon of one of the mornings I had a positive HPT result. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I am going to request a blood test Monday morning.
I have had no cramping or bleeding so I don’t think it’s a miscarraige or anything like that. My husband and I have been trying for a few months now and my cycle is pretty regular, I am 5 days late. Can the doctors urine test be wrong. I mean, I just think the chances at 4 other faulty HPTs is a little rare? Any thoughts would help. Thanks!
What jumped out at me here was that you tested at home in the morning (first morning urine) and the test at the doctor was in the afternoon – so therefore chances are that the urine you had at the office was not concentrated enough and there simply wasn’t enough hormone present to be detected.
Do like you said and go get a blood test, or ask them to retake the urine test early in the AM- you can collect your own sample at home in the morning then take it to the office/lab.

Belly button ring?
I am 31 weeks pregnant, and i took my belly button ring out by the third month of pregnancy. The belly button ring hole is still there and its getting red, (not infected) like there is a streach mark growing on it because the belly button ring hole is streaching. Designer Maternity Denim – It’s All in the Jeans
Flared, boot-cut, skinny, straight, dark indigo, distressed…and so the list goes on. Who ever thought shopping for denim jeans could get so complicated? Before you start to worry that the task of finding the perfect jeans to take you through pregnancy will be totally impossible, let me reassure you; maternity denim is better than ever. So what’s the latest?
Skinny jeans might have been the hottest style way back in 2005, but we think you’ll agree it’s about time for something new. If you don’t like the thought of struggling to get into and out of your jeans every day (trust us, with skinny cuts it’s not easy after 30 weeks) you’ll be grateful for the new cuts available this season, including wide legged styles which are much less hard work and go beautifully with the over-long tops (like this beautiful peasant sleeved tunic from Lil) which look so great during pregnancy.
I should probably admit that I’m not much of one for sacrificing comfort for beauty, so whenever super tight jeans are in vogue I’m usually less than enthused. I do remember at least one of my sisters lying backwards on the bed and asking for help to get the zipper up on her jeans sometime way back in the late 80s…but I have to say I’ve always been able to get my jeans on while standing upright and unassisted, and I’m happy to keep it that way.
Luckily, jeans these days often have a small component of lycra or elastane in their fabric for extra stretch, so comfort is the name of the game, and that’s never more needed than during pregnancy. Maternity jeans also usually come with either added elastic sections in the waist, or a stretchy panel which fits comfortably around your tummy. 1 in the Oven’s ever-popular InvisiBelly™ jeans are a good example of this style. They’re best worn with a top long enough to cover the waist band, and from the back they look exactly like normal jeans in terms of fit and style…but they’re much more comfortable!

i think my vet is wrong about my dog being pregnant….?
Had an x-ray, and I think the vet is wrong. There was another dog that had an x-ray at the same time. My dog is a Golden Retriever, and the x-ray was done when she was 43 days pregnant. She has gained 15 pounds, she has been extremely calm, which she never is, her nipples are hanging down along with her stomach, and she is extremely slow. I wonder if the x-rays were switched????? The vet said it is a false pregnancy. I don’t think that could be possible. I have thought about getting a second opinion. What do you think??
From having worked in several vet hospitals, I can tell you that most vets don’t have enough X-ray cassettes to do multiple dogs at once (unless your vet has switched to digital X-rays, in which case the pictures would be labelled at the time they were taken). They’d have to take the radiographs of your dog, develop and look at them, then put new blank film in the cassette to do the x-rays of the other dog. This means it’s very unlikely the films got switched.
Furthermore, even if another dog was getting x-rayed at the same time, it’s extremely unlikely that it was also there for abdominal x-rays, the same size as a golden AND 40-some days pregnant. So this all means your vet is probably correct in that it’s a false pregnancy. False pregnancies can look just like you describe. Also, seeing puppies on x-rays is one of the perks of working at a vet hospital – the staff generally makes a big deal out of a pregnancy-check x-ray – so that makes it even less likely that pregnancy x-rays would get switched.
You could always call your vet and ask the following questions about the other dog that was in for x-rays – the one you think you dog’s films got mixed up with: 1) How much did it weigh? 2) Was it an intact female? 3) Was she pregnant? If it was a significantly different weight, then you know the films weren’t mixed up. If it was not pregnant, then even if the films were mixed up, it still means your vet is right and your dog isn’t pregnant.
But mistakes do occasionally happen at the vet, so if you want to get a second opinion, go right ahead. If you are going to keep wondering until you see proof she’s not pregnant, then I think it’s worth the expense just for your peace of mind. You could get another x-ray, or maybe you could get an ultrasound done.
