Lower right abdominal pain, possible pregnancy? Please help?
This is urgent.
My friend is nearly 14 and is possibly pregnant. Long story, but she may have been date-raped, we aren’t sure yet because her parents won’t take her to a doctor.
She has been having all of the pregnancy symptoms, but she also has a bad pain in her lower right abdomen.
She has had her appendix removed, so she thinks the pain might be from scar tissue?
If she is pregnant, could the pain be because of a problem with the pregnancy?
We read that ectopic pregnancy could be life-threatening, could it be that?
Thanks everybody
It really depends on how long you think she is. I think she should go to the hospital or doctors, just to make sure …
I wouldn’t have thought it was it was from the appendix removal .. but it could be.
Anyways, best to check her out as soon as possible.

Thanks for the thumb down … I was only trying to help ..

If you have an ectopic pregnancy wouldn’t the pregnancy hormone show in your blood stream?
If the doctor took blood to see if you were having a miscarriage wouldn’t the pregnancy hormone have showed up in your blood? Can you have an ectopic and have a absence of the pregnancy hormone is that possible? And if you were having an ectopic pregnancy what would the symptoms be? and is there other ways other than a blood test to rule out pregnancy? thanks for your comments….
I agree with the other posters. I had an ectopic last year and it was heart breaking. For me, I had 4 or 5 blood tests and my numbers kept doubling and everything was fine.
It was at the 6 week checkup that they did an ultrasound that they could not find a sac in the uterus that it was confirmed. I elected to not have surgery (the only true way to find out where the pregnancy is…. it doesn’t necessarily have to be in the tubes) and did a shot of a chemotherapy drug to dissolve the pregnancy. It took a good 2 1/2 months for my numbers to go back down so we could try again.
I really had no symptoms because I found it really early. But, its VERY serious.. If you think you may have this get yourself to the Dr. or emergency room asap..
Good luck my friend!

What are the signs & symptoms of a tubal/ectopic pregnancy?
What are the signs & symptoms of a tubal/ectopic pregnancy? Also do you still get your period during an ectopic pregnancy?
In the very early stages, tubal pregnancy symptoms are just like those of a healthy pregnancy. A little morning sickness, some breast tenderness, being tired, and missed periods.
After 5 weeks, more specific symptoms include cramping or pain in the abdomen, spotting, and dizziness or light-headedness.
You would miss your periods if it is a tubal pregnancy.
There are tests which your doctor can run. They include a pelvic exam, both external and internal…trying to find unusual qualities and will check to see if your uterus looks to be the proper size for the baby’s length of gestation.

Is it possible to have a ectopic pregnancy with a negative pregnancy test?
I had my tubes tied 4 months ago, experienced some complications with a serious infection and now i am worried that i somehow got pregnant. I have missed 2 periods, had some very scant spotting and have lower left abdominal pain for 3 weeks. I went to the doctor and she said I could be pregnant and did a urine test but it was negative. She went on to say that there is definately a problem with my left tube and ovary after she examined me and i almost jumped off the table it hurt so much. I also have pain during intercourse like ive never had before. So I need to know what the actually chance is that the test is wrong
Ectopic pregnancy may be suspected when symptoms present AND hCG levels fail to be detected, or double, and/or if the hCG level rises, falls and rises again. So yes, it’s possible to be negative. Have your doc run a blood test to be certain. You could also have an infection or scarring/damage from previous infection, so have her test for that as well. Good luck and hang in there.

You have been feeling a little listless lately. There does not seem to be any apparent reason for the same. So you think that what you might be experiencing right now could be early signs of pregnancy? A lot of women feel a little awkward and shy visiting a doctor to confirm their pregnancy before being more or less sure about it themselves. Though many early symptoms may be similar to some normal and commonplace ailments, there are some obvious early signs and symptoms of pregnancy which can be caught early if you are sharp enough to notice them.
Here is a list of some of the earliest signs, which can set in as early as 7 to 10 days of pregnancy!
Nausea and vomiting
This is the commonest indication of pregnancy. This condition, popularly referred to as ‘morning sickness’, can strike at any time of the day at all. You may suddenly start feeling extremely sick for an inexplicable reason. While some women experience only nausea, others actually suffer from actual bouts of vomiting, thereby upsetting their whole system, initially. Some pregnant women suffer from morning sickness only for a little while, some experience none at all. Generally, these symptoms disappear when you enter the second trimester, that is, from the fourth month of your pregnancy.
Feeling faint
The raging hormones sometimes cause you to get a feeling of light headedness. Some pregnant women experience regular fainting spells due to a sudden fall in their blood pressure. This again normally lasts only till the first semester.
Tiredness and sleepiness
Fatigue and feeling sleepy throughout the day are yet other early signs of pregnancy. If you have feeling totally down and worn out since the last week or ten days, you could actually be carrying a little life inside you! Your body goes through immense changes when you get pregnant. This is a stressful time for your system as a whole, so tiredness is bound to be an offshoot of this condition!
High basal body temperature
Normally, a woman’s basal body temperature slightly increases during her ovulation and stays that way till the next period. If your basal body temperature shoots higher and stays that way even after two or three weeks, you could probably think of a pregnancy. Of course, not many women regularly record their basal body temperature, so this might not be a great option for you.
Crabbiness
The rapidly changing hormones during pregnancy could make even the most saintly woman most horribly crabby! If you have been feeling like biting someone’s head on the slightest pretext, you could probably just lay the blame on the little life taking shape inside of you!
The early signs of pregnancy can get pretty confusing at first, because you would most probably have no clue as to why you are experiencing a sudden host of health problems. Of course, a few more days into your pregnancy and you will have other very clear signs to tell you that good news is on the way!

Can you have a miscarriage without pain? How long before pregnancy symptoms stop error?
It is said that no pain, menstrual cramps almost like bleeding after a miscarriage, but no pain? That means that an error occurred yet?
Each person is different – but with my miscarriage that started with brown discharge for 3 days, after the fourth day, I woke up a bloody mess and I had cramps worse than anyone had imagined. I was only 5 weeks. The bleeding lasted about 4-5 days. I ended up with more brown spots / discharge about two weeks after the bleeding stopped .. then I had my next period exactly 28 days after miscarriage. [

Signs and symptoms of ectopic pregnancy
An ectopic pregnancy occurs when there are any complications in the pregnancy process. The fertilized egg begins to develop in all tissues other than the lining of the uterus. In most cases this is occurring in the fallopian tube is commonly called an ectopic pregnancy, but there are exceptional cases where this occurs in the ovaries, abdomen or cervix. The fetus releases enzymes that allow it to implant in a variety of tissues. An embryo that is implanted anywhere but the uterus can cause enormous damage in its efforts to obtain an adequate supply of blood. An ectopic pregnancy is an emergency and must be treated immediately. If not neglected, it can even lead to death of women.
There are signs of an ectopic pregnancy were obtained from a series of cases. These early signs include lower abdominal pain that may feel like cramp. The stomach may also be inflamed. Going to hurt women when trying to urinate. A slight discomfort and pain is always felt by the woman experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. similar pain and discomfort felt in the case of a corpus luteum in the ovary that sometimes occurs during normal pregnancy, in exceptional cases. When an ectopic pregnancy case means that it is actually a failed pregnancy and levels of deprivation causes progesterone withdrawal bleeding, ectopic pregnancy and vaginal bleeding would experience sweet. It may not be able to distinguish that from a bleeding miscarriage or implantation bleeding.
In cases of ectopic pregnancy, the woman is bound to experience pain during defecation. The pain and bleeding worse than the period of pregnancy lengthens. Most later you realize you have a ectopic pregnancy, the pain, it should be. Bleeding may be not only vaginal, but also internal worse. As the bleeding is external know it's just a drop in progesterone levels, but if bleeding Internally, this means that you have a tube bleeding that has been saturated.

Pregnancy after a Tubal Ligation?
I had a tubal ligation around the 1st of Sept in 2008, so it’s been about almost 9 months. I know the chances are VERY low, but I also know it’s happend in becoming pregnant after the fact! Besides the common symptoms of pregnancy, are there any symptoms that differ from those of the common signs because it’s a possiable pregnancy after a tubal ligation??? If there is anyone that has had a pregnancy after a tubal or seriously knows about this occuring after a tubal please help! I won’t be late until tomorrow *I think* but I’m having the signs of pregnacy and I’m freakin’! And yes, took a preggo test about a lil over a week ago, neg! But it seriously was a lil early. Can this kind of pregnancy show a false positive? Also the whole dr. thing is kinda hard, my health insurace doesn’t kick in for another month so I’m trying to pace it out but still VERY curiouse! PLEASE HEEELLLPP!! Any info or advice would be awsome!
It can happen and more and more it does. My mother had an ectopic pregnancy so only one tube and a tubal ligation.. she was in her 40′s and still conceived! Now that time it really was against all odds and only took the pregnancy test to prove how silly her co-workers were when she told them her symptoms lol. She then took about 4 more as she sat in disbelief.
I’m not sure about having it done so soon but it seems it would tend to mess up your cycle some.
As for a false positive there really is no such thing. The home tests are so accurate today as long as you read them in the first 10 minutes and not seeing an evap line.
The only other positive is when you have an early miscarriage or chemical pregnancy often not even detected unless we are counting down the days to test. When I called the doc to tell them I got a positive they didnt even want to see me until I was 8 weeks to do a scan. I asked if they wanted to confirm and they said no that my home test was enough.
IF you still get a negative in a bit and still no period you should go in for a blood test. A quantitative serum test measures the exact amount of hCG in your blood and it much better than any pee test. They also can be done sooner;) sometimes you can do those at a clinic so check around in your area. Either based on your income or free.
Keep in mind that any surgery like that can really play havoc on your body and stress can delay your period as well.

What is an ectopic pregnancy? An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus. The most common site for implantation to occur in an ectopic pregnancy in the fallopian tubes, hence the nickname "ectopic pregnancy." However, the fertilized egg can also implant in the ovary, neck or abdomen. It is extremely rare for an ectopic pregnancy result in a live birth.
Because the egg implants itself other than the uterus, which is unable to develop properly. As the egg develops, it extends the body in which it operates. For Finally, the body, most commonly the fallopian tube burst that increases the risk of a woman bleeding which requires immediate medical attention.
Signs of ectopic pregnancy On the surface, ectopic pregnancy symptoms are similar to those of pregnancy, is difficult to realize warning signals. In general, however, typical symptoms ectopic pregnancy include:
end of period
irregular vaginal bleeding
dizziness, lightheadedness or fainting
pain in the abdomen, shoulder, bladder and / or bowel
Signs most notable of ectopic pregnancy are sharp, shooting pains, especially in the abdomen. If you have had a positive pregnancy test and report any of these Ectopic pregnancy symptoms, make an appointment with your doctor immediately.
The diagnosis of tubal pregnancy With a better understanding of ectopic pregnancies, more health professionals are a selection of antenatal patients about sex, women of this complication of pregnancy. This increased vigilance is one reason why maternal mortality rates are declining despite the number of ectopic pregnancies is increasing.
To diagnose an ectopic pregnancy, your health care provider to administer a pregnancy test (if it does not have a positive pregnancy test). Once pregnancy is confirmed, a blood test will be conducted to assess their levels of hCG. In a healthy pregnancy, this hormone doubles every two days until the pregnancy week 11 pf. However, ectopic pregnancy, hCG levels increase at a much slower pace.
To determine how your hCG levels are increasing your health care provider can control the pace for a period of days or you can calculate what should be based on your last menstrual period and the approximate duration of pregnancy. A blood test to measure the level of progesterone in the system can also be useful as an ectopic pregnancy occurs less often than normal progesterone levels.
Ultrasound is often done in the early stages of pregnancy to see how a fetus grows. During this routine procedure, your doctor can see not only the uterus but also the wrong fallopian tubes and ovaries. During this review, it is possible that your health care provider to see if the embryo was implanted in the right place or not.
The treatment of ectopic pregnancy Because it is unlikely that the embryo to survive when in a place other than the uterus, and the risk of organ failure and even maternal death, ectopic pregnancies are usually taken late. As your fallopian tube has not ruptured, this can be achieved through the use of methotrexate, an injectable drug that dissolves the embryo, allowing the body to absorb. This is often preferred because it is a noninvasive procedure and reduces the amount of healing your reproductive organs.
If you are unable to use methotrexate, the embryo can be washed by a salpinostomy or removed by laparoscopy. However, if the court in which the embryo has implanted ruptures, emergency laparoscopy should be done to destroy the embryo and organ, usually the fallopian tube.
Once the embryo is removed, follow-up care and surveillance. This is to make sure that your hCG levels return to zero. If not lower, you can receive additional treatment with methotrexate to dissolve all persistent embryonic tissue remaining in the tube.
Effects on fertility Living an ectopic pregnancy can affect your future ability to become pregnant. If scars, injury or damage to their reproductive organs or because the pregnancy or the methods used to treat ectopic pregnancy, which may make it more difficult to conceive in the future. In addition, experiencing an ectopic pregnancy that threatens another in the future.
However, just because you had a pregnancy ectopic automatically, you will be infertile. Despite losing a fallopian tube reduces your chances of pregnancy to about 40%, pregnancy is possible. Many women I had an ectopic pregnancy successfully conceive again in the year of an ectopic pregnancy.
If you are concerned about your fertility, ask your doctor about what you can do to preserve their fertility and increase your chances of pregnancy after tubal pregnancy.
Are you in risk? Some factors may put a woman at increased risk of ectopic pregnancy. In many incidents, one result of a tubal pregnancy, due to a blockage or narrowing of the fallopian tube, preventing fertilization of the egg to the uterus. Factors that may increase your risk of ectopic pregnancy include:
Pelvic inflammatory disease
Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Pregnancy over of 35
previous surgery to the fallopian tubes
previous ectopic pregnancy
Endometriosis

What is the difference between ectopic pregnancy and threatened abortion?
i was 2 weeks pregnant and experience vaginal bleeding and pain abdominal with a positive pregnancy test. The doctor told me it was the threat of abortion and nurses insisted it was an ectopic pregnancy. One week later, the bleeding stopped and did not experience any pain. The pregnancy test was also negative for months with regular menstrual cycles. Am I infertile.
If you have been an ectopic pregnancy, then they would have done the surgery. A threatened abortion is where there is the threat of losing the baby. The doctor usually put at rest until the threat has passed. But if you take another test and it is negative and have regular periods, then it seems as if you had a miscarriage. But no, are not sterile. Many women have miscarriages and switch to a healthy pregancy. Good luck.

Symptoms of pregnancy after tubal ligation? I do not arrive late, but still have very few symptoms ….?
I cut tubes, burned and tied over five years ago when I was 23. I was wondering if someone is pregnant with normal pregnancy (not ectopic) after cutting the fallopian tubes and burned?
I know people who have become pregnant after tubal ligation and their children were healthy. Yes, pregnancy is possible, though highly unlikely after a man or a woman had "tubes tied." pipe connection procedure is called when a vasectomy in men and tubal ligation when it is in women. After a male has a vasectomy, can remain fertile for several months after the procedure. In very rare cases the cut ends pull together vas deferens, or recanalization, and it is possible to become fertile again. The odds that a woman becomes pregnant after that she has undergone tubal ligation is about 0.5%, or 5 times a year in 1000. Vasectomy and tubal ligation can sometimes be reversed, but the process is not easy, nor guaranteed results. For a man of this procedure is called a vasovasostomy. These surgeries can cost up to $ 5,000. During the time interval between vasectomy and vasovasostomy, the greater the chance of success. The main problem that occurs after a decline in fertility is vasovasostomy. Often, men have reduced sperm counts, reduced sperm motility, and / or have developed antibodies against their own sperm. . Recently, the odds of success for reconnecting the service has increased. The chances of pregnancy are about 50% after a vasovasostomy. The investment process tubal ligation is known to reverse tubal sterilization or microsurgical reanastomosis. The success of this operation depends on several things. If there is at least 4 inches from the remaining healthy fallopian tube, then the chances of pregnancy are pretty good. As vasovasostomy, investment sterilization surgery is very expensive. If the transaction involved burning or cauterization, the chances of a successful reversal of sterilization surgery generally declined. The risk of ectopic pregnancy is higher after a sterilization reversal. (An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy that occurs in a place outside the uterus, often in the fallopian tubes. This can lead to rupture and uncontrolled bleeding is a serious medical emergency. Diagnostic Tests can determine in advance an ectopic pregnancy and surgical and medical interventions can address.) Successs rate ranged from 33-88% depending on the ligation ligation is done. We strongly recommend that you and your friend make that 100 percent pregnancy is what you want. Do I End it Or Wait it Out?
My bhcg levels are rising very slowly…fluctuating even if you will. Last Thursday, the reading was 342, Friday 335, and yesterday 358.
An ultrasound was done to see if a sac was in the tubes or in the uterus or what have you. They saw nothing.
My doctor is convinced this is a tubal pregnancy. I haven’t really been experiencing any symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy but I am not sure.
He seems rather anxious for me to take the shot that would force miscarriage, however, I am not certain I want to do that at this stage in the game. There have been instances where slow rising HCGs led to a perfectly healthy baby.
The practical side of me says take the shot. The hopeful part of me says give things a little more time. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
well if there would be no harm to you, i would wait it out a little bit. do what your heart tells you is right

Identifying Reasons for Spotting during pregnancy
Light bleeding or spotting, as they usually call it, is a common happening during pregnancy. It may be regarded as a not-so-serious condition due to the many physiological reaction in a woman’s body during this childbearing stage.
If you are spotting and you are not pregnant… you might want to take a pregnancy test!
Some might confuse the spotting from bleeding although the latter is more serious and requires immediate medical attention. The spots can vary in color from light red, red, pink to brown, which is a usual color of a blood when it dried up.
During the first trimester of pregnancy, spotting can be very common. But while most people usually regard spotting as nothing but a common sightings at this stage, monitoring one’s health should be put at the top of everyone’s priority.
Causes of Spotting
There are many reasons for the cause of spotting and one some of them are enumerated below.
a. Increased Blood Supply To the Cervix. The increased blood supply to the primary internal genital organs of pregnant women. This increase blood supply may leak out to the linings of the cervix and, in turn, causes scant bleeding.
b. This is also caused by after-effect of Pap smear examination, sexual intercourse or any internal activity which destroy the internal linings of the cervix. For implant patients, several episodes of spotting is expected during the first week of the fertilization.
c. Dividing Egg Cell Burrowing into the Wall of the Uterus. This can also be caused by the action done by the dividing fertilized egg cell which clinging into the walls of the uterus, the organ where the developing baby is nourished and undergoes development.
This type of soft bleeding will only last for about one or two days but may extend until the fourth or fifth day but should it continue on the sixth days, it should be consulted with your medical doctor for checkup.
It shows that less than 8% of women experiences spotting or none at all, however, for any concerns on pregnancy, especially for first-timers, regular check up is needed in order to check no any developments of spotting.
d. Vaginal Infections. Several vaginal infections may also cause spotting for pregnant and non-pregnant women alike. Sexually transmitted diseases for example may cause spotting. Vaginitis or Bacterial vaginosis, several types of vaginal yeast infections and trichomoniasis, are just some of the vaginal infections which may cause spotting.
Others such as herpes simplex, gonorrhea, and Chlamydia may irritate the linings of the cervix and causes the vulnerability of the cervix to irritation.
Irritated cervix would then cause bleeding if external means will be applied in the area such as when undergoing a Pap smear test or after having sexual intercourse or any serious medical condition such as cervical (benign) polyp which can become cancerous at anytime.
It shows that 10 to 64% of American women suffer from any of these diseases at any time during their lifetime
Complications Arising From Spotting
Spotting can be very dangerous especially if it would last for a week. For most women, spotting may suggest that an early onset of an abnormal pregnancy or miscarriage. Along with this sign, other may include dispersed bouts of abdominal pain and frequent cramps.
At this stage, ultrasound and a series of other laboratory tests carried out by your OB should be done in order to ensure the safety of the unborn. Half of pregnant women who experiences advanced spotting and bleeding miscarry and most experiences severe complications.
For the first week of spotting, an ultrasound showing heartbeat between 7 and 11 as a rate is a good indicator of ruling out miscarriage and continuing pregnancy on a clear and healthy state.
Other Issues Related to Spotting
