A Healthy Pregnancy Means A Healthy Baby!

Most people’s idea of a healthy lifestyle involves: eating right, sleeping enough, getting a decent amount of exercise, and abstaining from unhealthy behaviors like smoking, excessive drinking, etc… Although this may be enough for the average individual, for women who are pregnant it is not even close. Pregnant women should be taking a number of steps to ensure they remain healthy during pregnancy; for their own benefit, as well as to do everything possible to guarantee a risk-averse birth, for the sake of the child. These steps range from making regular visits to a health care provider, to eating correctly, and taking adequate health supplements.

During the beginning of a pregnancy women should visit their doctor at least once a month to ensure the baby is developing properly, and to make sure the mother is staying healthy during this crucial time. Towards the end of pregnancy, the last two months or so, women should begin visiting their doctor more frequently, every couple of weeks.

Apart from visiting the doctor, whether in the first week, or just before birth, there are a number of things a woman can be doing on her own to help ensure a healthy pregnancy. First, a healthy diet is critical. There are three essential nutrients that a body needs more of during pregnancy than any other time: Calcium, Iron, and Folic Acid. There are a number of ways a woman can make sure to get enough of these nutrients, namely, eating correctly and supplementing her diet with prenatal nutrients. Eating correctly in this case simply means eating a balanced diet of meat, grains, fruits, vegetables, and dairy. There are many different kinds of prenatal vitamins, and each comes with its own pros and cons. Perfect Prenatal is one of the few such vitamins that contain 100% organic ingredients, cultured with soy, to avoid digestive problems often encountered with other prenatal vitamins.

There are many other things pregnant women can do to help ensure a healthy pregnancy, but visiting a doctor on a regular basis, maintaining a healthy diet, and supplementing that diet with prenatal supplements are three things that anyone who is pregnant should definitely be doing.

Common Pregnancy Illness

common pregnancy illness
Is it possible to have a light period because of stress?

My period came three days later this month. Before I started my period, I took two pregnancy tests both negative and decided to try to speed up my period using the method of vitamin C. In fact, arrived the following night as articles on the Internet, said it would. My period has been normal for 24 hours, but then stays lighter and lighter. Now I'm on day 7 My "period", but I seem to have been almost track the last 5 days or more. I want to emphasize that I had a huge fight with my boyfriend (stress) When my period has started to be clearer. I also was under a tremendous amount of stress in the last month. I know that, regardless of pregnancy only Add to that. I also had the disease, resulting in the use of new drugs. I think my main question is: Is it possible to have a light period just Stress? Is this common? All comments are appreciated.

The easy answer to this question is yes. Stress is a little devil. When you're stressed, every aspect of your body is affected and is subject to the "deficiencies", including hormones. The amount of blood lost during a period is partly influenced by the difference between estrogen and progesterone. In times of stress, your body releases a large amount of cortisol that impact direct hormonal secretion. You may have irregular period, the blood more or less loose or even stop your period. Caffeine, drug use, the poor diet and smoking can also cause thi happen. My suggestion would be that physical activity combined with good nutrition. Physical activity known to reduce your stress level and release a large amount of endorphins in the equivalent of a batch of drugs against stress. Hope this was helpful, have a good day!

Healthy Pre Pregnancy Tips

What is the best post pregnancy diet and exercise?

Anyone have any good tips for getting your pre pregnancy body back ( or as close as i can get it lol) I want to start a healthy diet and exercise program that will be good on my body but still have time for my family.

It,depends, if your breast feeding then you should’nt really be thinking about dieting yet and instead watch what you eat and maintain a diet high in calcium.
Otherwise take it slow and don’t go after those fad diets because any weight you loose I gaurantee you’ll put back on just as quickly. remember you’ll only loose weight if you burn more energy then you take in. Eat three meals a day that are rich in nutrients and low in fat. And if you want an exercise reigieme that means you can still spend time with the kids then why not get them involved too? obviously it depends on their ages but you could all go swimming together as a family or something. alternitively take half an hour each day to take a brisk walk around your naighbourhood

All That Goes in the Pregnancy Labor Bag

Learn all about packing for your pregnancy labor bag here. When you go through various pregnancy related books and magazines, you see how much emphasis they lay on packing your bag in advance.

Why Is Packing A Pregnancy Labor Bag Important?

Your hospital will not supply you with many things. In case your stay is longer than the usual 1-2 days after delivery, you will need many of your own necessities.

Many women fear that lack of preparation and to not have their dear things with them when they are going through pregnancy labor can make all plans go kaput. They are right! So pack your bag well before the full term. You can ask the hospital staff what they provide before you make your own list. You will need to make 2 lists- one for yourself and one for that little bundle of joy that is about to enter into your life.

Making It Easy For You

Here is a general but exhaustive checklist for you to go through. You can add to it according to your requirements-

  • Toiletries – toothbrush, paste, shampoo, etc.
  • Makeup – You might feel you wouldn’t need it but you might when people drop in to meet you and your baby.
  • Your pregnancy period reference books or pamphlets.
  • Your home pillow also goes in your bag if you are the type who cannot sleep comfortably without your pillow. You can use a printed or colored case to distinguish it from the hospital ones.
  • Your i-pod or CD-player along with music that you like.
  • Your digicam or camcorder with accessories and batteries to capture many magical moments.
  • Pad and pen to note things down or to make lists of things to do when you reach home.
  • Lists of people to call after the birth.
  • Lip balm- must for the dry air conditioned air of the hospital.
  • Your own clothes- Pack the ‘Comfy’ pregnancy ones as it will be months before you will get back to your pre-pregnancy shape.
  • Baby’s stuff- Ask your doctor to give you a comprehensive list.
  • Warm clothes for yourself for post pregnancy chills.
  • Snacks- Pack nutritious stuff like granola bars, juices etc.
  • Special clothes for yourself and baby for homecoming are a must in your labor bag.
  • Extra large bag of super absorbent sanitary pads for post delivery bleeding.
  • Keep your packed pregnancy labor bag right next to your door as once the baby decides on arriving, there will be no time to search for it.

To early to see on sonogram?

I have had several faint positive pregnancy test and one negative. All in 5 days and the line hasnt darken in 5 days. I am 5 days late for my period and my boobs are sore. I went to the clinic this morning and they also got a faint positive. I had a sonogram and she said she thought she seen a sac but couldn’t be sure. She started talking about etopic and needless to say I got worried and upset and she said its just a guideline they follow if they see no sac (Since she was only 60-70% sure she seen a sac, she wanted to give me papers on etopic) im just about 4 weeks and a few days. Has anyone ever had anything like this and if so what was the outcome? Thanks!

I really dont understand why they dont do Trans vaginal ultrasound so early in pregnancy, My doctor never did sonogram until I reached 14 weeks she was doing trans vaginal because it is much easier to see the sac and tiny dot of a baby, dont worry too much wait for one more week or so and go after or go to somewhere else. ghood Luck I am sure everything will be fine…

Well I got them, but after googling them, found they are a pregnancy class C drug – not proved as safe yet. No matter how sick I feel, I won’t take something that might hurt my baby. Anyone know anything about them?

Can you file for disability due to a high risk pregnancy?

I am 13 weeks pregnant and have been put on bed rest. The doctor’s think it might be for my entire pregnancy. I lost me job 5 weeks before I got pregnant. Now since I’m on bed rest I can’t get a job. I live in Florida and want to know if I can file for disability or get any help at all. Thank you for your help!!

You would have had to have your own private short term disability policy in place prior to your pregnancy. There are 5 states that have employer mandated short term disability, but Florida isn’t one of them. For social security, you have to have an impairment that will last over one year. Pregnancy won’t qualify for that. Check with your Dept of Human Services office (or whatever they call your state agency). They can help determine what help may be available in the form of food stamps, medical care, rent assistance, help with utilities, etc.
